WillieMae Haskins was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 12, 2020 after a prolonged illness. She was born November 12, 1944 to Helen Haskins (Baker) and Willie Powell in Elizabeth City County (now Hampton) , Virginia.

She was educated in the city of Newport News and received her High School diploma through a special program sponsored by the Office of Human Affairs. She retired from the Office of Human Affairs Head Start program as the Supervisor of Transportation.

She was dedicated to the Lord, Six Mount Zion Baptist Temple and Dr. M. Ivory Jefferson. She was a loyal and dedicated member until her health declined at Ivy Farms Community of Faith Church, Pastor Dr. Alexander Jamison, Sr., whom she loved dearly.

She enjoyed taking pictures of everyone and was always willing to make multiple copies and give them to you again and again. She was a faithful TV viewer of the "Oprah Show" and had bad (distorted) copies of any DVD movie you could want. She loved gospel music. But most of all she loved Travis, Brittani and Briana as if she gave birth to them.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Joyce Ann Taylor (Marvin), Brenda J. Chester and Darlene Sanford (James); nephews James A. Chester (Minister Valerie) and Shaun Taylor; nieces Helen D. Chester, Michele Taylor, Brittani Fenton (Peter) and Briana Sanford; great nephews Derrick McEachern and Travis Howard; special cousin Armenta B. Roberts and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  A Private Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, March 23, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Hampton Memorial Gardens. PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF SOCIAL DISTANCING!
