Obituary

Mr. Raheem Ahmad

Departed this life on May 31, 2021 at Sentara CarePlex Hospital. God saw you getting weary, so he did what he thought was best. He came and stood beside you, and whispered come and rest. Raheem was born to the late Emma Bradshaw and Sylvester Warren on October 3, 1945 in Southampton County, Virginia.  He married Nadirah "Eula" Ahmad, who was his lifelong companion. Raheem is the father of Michelle Humphries, Sean Ahmad and Donna Williams Boykins.

Raheem was drafted and served in the United States Army. He served from 1965 and Honorably Discharged in 1967, having proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division.  Raheem was a bus driver for Hampton Roads Transit for 20 Years. There, he served as the Vice-Present of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local No. 1177 until he retired in 2012.

Throughout the years, he had a passion for counseling and mentoring the youth. Raheem was known for inspiring and supporting all those were in need. Raheem gave unselfishly and never looked for anything in return.

Raheem was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Bradshaw-Lankford (Charlie Bass Lankford) and Sylvester Warren. His two brothers; Melvin Bradshaw and Charlie Bass Lankford, Jr., his Aunts; Mamie "Monk" L. Scott and Ida Mae Ricks, and his Uncle, James "Buddy" E.  Bradshaw.

Raheem leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Nadirah "Eula" Ahmad of Hampton, VA; his children, Michelle Humphries of Washington, D.C., Sean Ahmad (Trina) of Philadelphia, PA, Donna Williams Boykins (Tony) of Franklin, VA; Grandchildren: Caprice, Clifton, Kyle, Tajai, Dazja, Ronald, and Jarvis; Great-grandchildren: Syncere, Jayden, and Aalyiah.

He also leaves to cherish his memories a sister, Jean Williams of Sedley, VA; a brother, Raymond Lee Hines (Elizabeth) of Windsor, VA, and other siblings.  A devoted sister in-law, Joyce Bradshaw of Sedley, VA; Nieces: Sherrise Houston Bradshaw and her children Dwight and Eva of Lawrenceville, GA; Nikita "Nikki" Bradshaw of Sedley, VA, NaDirah Lee and her son Torey "TJ" of Carrollton, VA.

The host of family would not be complete without mentioning his Aunts: Fannie Mae Hines and Nancy Powell.  Special Acknowledgement to Janice "Cookie" Turner and Carolyn Bradshaw Summers. Raheem loved all of his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
