Dr. Gail Price Elam was born on February 28, 1951 to Lawrence Price, Sr. and Sarah Moye Price. She departed this life on July 14, 2020.

Gail was born in New Bern, NC and spent her childhood between Brooklyn, NY and Hampton, VA. She graduated from Hampton High in 1969. After high school Gail continued her education at Norfolk State University where she pledged Chi Alpha Tau. After earning her Bachelor's degree from NSU, she earned her Master's degree from Hampton University, and years later went back to earn a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.

Gail loved technology and loved to learn. From a young adult she started her career in the technology field as a key punch operator for NASA. She lived in several different places including VA, Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, but she was a long time resident of St. Mary's County, MD. She moved there in the 1980s and met her former husband, Ed Elam. While in St. Mary's County, she worked as a Technologist at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, until she retired in 2012.

After Gail's retirement, she returned to Historical Aberdeen Gardens, a community that she loved dearly, was extremely proud of. She credited Aberdeen with helping to forge her path. Upon returning home, she decided to pursue her personal passion of learning and teaching about healthy hair. She was in the process of reviving the salon and beauty school started by Newport News hero, Madame Annie Daniels, when unfortunately, her health started to wane.

Gail is survived by her sister and brother, Sandra and Lawrence "Junnie" Price; her nieces and nephews Kinya Price Robinson, Sariah Price Allmond, Kari Price, Jerica Price, Odar Price, and Sarheim Price; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
