Obituary

David Avent Jr. , 88, of Hampton, Virginia passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

David who was lovingly referred to as "Bug" was born on January 16, 1935, and is the eldest child of David Avent Sr. and Anna Mae Avent. David is predeceased in death and will be welcomed in heaven by his father David Avent Sr., mother Anna Mae Avent, brother Ernest "Lo" Avent and Willie "Lacy" Avent, sister Shirley Avent, and daughter Carolyn "Denise" Reaves.

David is survived and missed by his wife, Irene Avent. David will be forever cherished and remembered by his son David Carter and family, sister Ethel Edwards, and granddaughter Shanda Reaves. There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we were to have known and been loved by David.  David was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend. Today, there are no words to describe the loss that we feel; but we realize that God never makes mistakes, and humbly submit to God's will.  David Avent has left his family a gift more precious than silver and gold.  A legacy of love, hard work, and dedication.  We submit this brief account of his life as our final gesture of love.

His family and friends are welcome to attend his celebration of life which will be held at Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 28, at 1:30 pm.  Flowers can be sent to Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel. For more additional information, please visit www.cookebros.com .
