On October 13, 2021 Anthony Nathaniel Richardson, age 63 of Newport News, Va. unexpectedly passed away.
On November 27, 1957, in Newport News, Va. Anthony was born to the late Nathaniel and Shirley Richardson (Newport News). Anthony attended Newport News public schools. During high school, Anthony was heavily recruited by the Air Force. Anthony graduated from Ferguson high school, and he started working for Newport News Shipbuilding. In early 2021, after working for forty-five years, Anthony retired.
Besides working dutifully at Newport News Shipbuilding Department 043, Anthony was a gifted scientist at heart. He studied astronomy, electronics, auto mechanics, and computer science. Anthony could install or repair almost anything. He completed his own auto repairs. He loved special tea and coffee blends, Kung Fu movies, and anime. As a young boy, Anthony would disassemble TV's to remove magnets and could rig security for his mother's front door. He created and sold customized electronic light displays for motorcycles, and cars.
Anthony was a loving, playful parent who could spend hours talking and playing with his children and grandchildren. He shared his love for anime, science, and gaming, and he taught his wife and daughter how to garden. Anthony was dutiful to his loved ones. For more than twenty years, Anthony split his time between Virginia and North Carolina.
In 1979, Anthony married the late Deborah Epps (Richardson) of Newport News, Va. He is survived by their three children: Tynisa (Newport News, Va.), Christopher (Suffolk, Va.), and Crystal (Suffolk, Va.). In 1994, Anthony married Roslyn Johnson of Charlotte NC, and is survived by both his wife and daughter Desiree (Bangor, Maine).
Anthony is also survived by his mother Shirley Richardson; his sisters Wanda Davis and DeBora Grant; his brothers Ronald Richardson, Everett Richardson, Jimmy Richardson, and Johnell Neal, two grandsons: Benjamin Savage and Kaiden Savage, and a host of extended family and friends.
On Saturday October 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM a loving memorial service will be held in Anthony's honor at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel . A repass will follow at 414 Shenandoah Dr. Hampton, Va.
