Mr. Willie McCoy "Sonny" Knight, age 67. He was called home to rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ a born again Christian passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 following a courageous battle of infirmities.

He was born September 29, 1939 in the town of Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Samuel and Ruby Knight. He was educated at I. C. Norcom High School in the City of Porstmouth, Virginia.

Willie worked at the Newport News Shipyard where he retired after 40 years.

Willie is survived by his wife Betty Joyce Knight; his children from his late wife Mary Knight ; Cleveland (Tony) Harmon, Roland (Rudy) Harmon, Deborah Knight, Timothy Knight, Philliip Knight, and Dee Dee Bullock; his children by his current wife; Edward Witherspoon and Mildred Barnes (Edward); three brothers, Matthew Knight, James Thomas Knight (Jones) and Eugene Knight; three daughters-in-law, Gwen Harmon, Anne Knight and Pat Witherspoon; three sisters-in-law, Julia Knight, Louise Knight and Frances Knight; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a very close and special friend, Mr. Joe Lynch. He is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; Raymond Knight, Jerome Knight, Mickey Knight, Emmanuel Knight, Benjamin Knight and Frank Knight, Sr.; two sisters, Margaret Ann Banks, and Ruby Potts.

Viewing will be held 12 noon to 7 p.m. Friday, September 1, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th St., NN. VA. 23607. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2, at the funeral home with Rev. A. Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
