Yvonne Howell Higgs, of Newport News, VA passed away on December 12, 2023. She was the daughter of Frank and Geneva Howell born on December 7, 1960. She is a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Yvonne is survived by her  two sons, Calvin Howell (wife Angie) and Samuel Granger (Breanna). She also leaves behind 9 cherished grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and Moses Higgs, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her father, Frank Howell; her mother, Geneva Howell; sister, Lilly Mae Swafford; brother, Willie Lee Mayo; step sister, Lottie Mae Fentress; and brother, Wilbert Lee Mayo.

Yvonne worked for many years of her life taking care of others as a CNA. She was a current employee of the Newport News public school transportation department making everyone smile that walked on the bus. In her free time she liked to watch football games and enjoyed keeping up with all of her many family and friends on Facebook. Her daily selfies and morning posts will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607.
