With profound sadness we announce the passing of Yolanda Cortessia Stephenson .  She passed on Tuesday, October 10,2023 at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Virginia.

Yolanda was born on January 6, 1990 in Newport News, Virginia to Patricia Alston and Douglas Stephenson in Newport News, Virginia. She attended Warwick High School and later obtained her GED and continued her education to become a PCA.

Yolanda was an amazing cook.  She had a passion for food, you could always find her in the kitchen cooking a variety of different foods especially seafood.

She loved spending time with family and friends laughing, joking, and making memories with those who meant the most to her.  You could count on her to be the life of every family function.  She took pride in taking care of others.  She was the favorite aunt to all her nieces and nephews.  Yolanda made it her mission to be the best mother that she could be.

Yolanda is survived by parents Douglas Stephenson and Patricia Alston; grandmother; Shirley Stephenson; four children; Antonio, Myonna, Malonna, and Dior; two brothers, Demitrius and Edward; three sisters. Nasya, Emerald, and Alliya; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Carrie Barnes; grandfather; George Alston; aunt, Cynthia Alston; great grandmother Josephine Gregory; and great grandfather, James Gregory.  Yolanda will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  There will be no public viewing.  Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
