Willie L.
Perry
d. Jul 1, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Willie Louise Perry. Born on October 27, 1943, in Newport News, Virginia, she peacefully left us in her sleep on Monday, July 1st, 2024, at the age of 80.
Willie's life was marked by her commitment to nursing, having worked as an RN at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Virginia, specializing in pediatric care for newborn babies for 15 years. In August 2022, she relocated to Texas to be with her son, Dwyan, and his family.
Outside of her nursing career, Willie found joy in various hobbies such as reading, shopping, and attending Sunday fellowship. At Silver Leaf Assistant Living, she rekindled her love for knitting, puzzles, word searches, and arts and crafts. She took particular pleasure in watching her grandson, Isaiah, play basketball.
Willie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clyde Perry and Annie Lee Perry; her daughter, Stephanie Fonville; and her former husband, Willie Dozier. She also mourned the loss of her sisters, Ina Perry and Margaret Gyant, and her brother, John Robert Perry.
Willie leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and compassion. She is survived by her sons, Dwyan (Lisa) of Dallas, TX, and Ashawn (Chris) of Hampton, VA; four grandsons, Justin Fonville, Devin, Tyler, and Isaiah Dozier; granddaughter Fannetra Bertschinger; son-in-law, Eric Fonville; sisters Dorothy Johnson of Hampton, VA, Warlicia Bullock (John) of Hampton, VA, Rosetta Cook (Raymond) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Darlene Perry (James) of Louisburg, NC; brothers Eddie Perry of Tacoma, Washington, William Perry (Ann) of Washington, DC, and Benjamin Perry of Louisburg, NC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
While Willie Louise Dozier Perry will be deeply missed, her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. "A golden heart stopped beating. Hardworking hands at rest, it broke our hearts to see you go, God only takes the best."
