Mr. Wilford J. Byrd, Jr., "Will", was born July 29, 1949 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Wilford Byrd, Sr. and Annie Lee (Holmes) Byrd.  He passed away peacefully Friday, November 22, 2024 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia.

He attended the Newport News Public School System.  He served 18 years in the United States Marine.  He enjoyed cooking, gambling, outside activities, planting his vegetables, and most of all, spending time with his family.  He had a special love for his dog "Wisdom".

On July 11, 2024, he rededicated his life to Christ, and on November 20, 2024 he was baptized.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Stringfield, Marian Lee Byrd, Velma L. Byrd.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; his loving wife, Vicki Byrd; four children, Wilford Byrd (Zyvonne), Timothy (Tina), Michelle, and Michiel, all of Hampton, Virginia; three step-children, Imeana, Tony, and Kamya; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn H. Brown of Hampton, Virginia and Pearlien Byrd of Newport News, Virginia; his mother-in-law, Mother Mittie Womack; his sister-in-law, Sylvia Rainey (Mark); his brother-in-law, Bobby Butler (Hydelia); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va., with Pastor Johnnie Jones, eulogist.  The Interment will be held privately.
