Obituary

Warren DeWitt Lucas born to the late William J. and Betty M. Lucas on May 14, 1960 in Newport News, Virginia.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 18, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Warren graduated from Warwick High School as an AP Honors student. He went on to the University of Virginia where he attained his Bachelor's Degree in the Arts. Warren didn't stop there he continued his education at Middlebury College pursuing his lifelong dream and received his Master's Degree in Linguistics.

From there he traveled to Paris where he taught English to French Students.

Warren spent many of his early years traveling. He had a phenomenal sense of humor and a quick wit. Could speak on almost any subject with zeal.

He had a zest for life and a love for family and friends. He enjoyed cooking and reading. His happy spot was at Cozzy's surrounded by his friends singing the night away.

He had such a big heart and would go the extra mile for his family and friends. He was classy and elegant man.

He was proud of the work that he did, most in the restaurant industry. Later as a Tax Advisor and Preparer for Jackson Hewitt.

He is proceeded in death by his father William J. Lucas, mother Betty M. Lucas, three brothers, William D. Lucas, Elwin E. Lucas, and Anthony A. Lucas.

Warren leaves on this earth to cherish his memory Marian Manley of Hampton, VA., Jackie Mason (Bucceroni) of Manassas, VA., Michael Lucas of Kansas City, MO., and Kathy Lucas of Hampton, VA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind a special friend Jim Friesz.

His life ended suddenly. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Viewing will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2023  at the funeral chapel.
