Mr. Warren Olen Bills, Sr. was born on February 16, 1934, in Ervin, Oklahoma, to George Bills and Mary Lewis. On March 10, 2026, at the age of 92, he peacefully went home to be with the Lord.
From a young age, Warren exhibited a strong sense of duty, discipline, and dedication. In 1952, during his senior year of high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Re-enlisting in the United States Army in 1957, he served with honor, bravery, and unwavering dedication during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, earning several Bronze Star Medals for his heroic actions. Throughout his 20 years, 8 months, and 9 days of military service, he distinguished himself as an exceptional leader, retiring from the Army at Fort Eustis as a Sergeant First Class.
After retiring from the military, Warren continued to uphold his strong work ethic in civilian life. He became a bookbinder at Mueller Martini and, through dedication and perseverance, advanced to a supervisor position before retiring in 2004.
Beyond his distinguished career of service, Warren’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He shared 64 years of marriage with the love of his life, Charlene Starlin. Together, they built a beautiful legacy and raised four children: Warren Jr. (Gwen), Benita, John (Dianne), and Darryl. Warren was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose quiet strength, wisdom, and unwavering love deeply touched the lives of those around him.
For over 40 years, Warren was a dedicated and devoted member of the Fort Eustis Regimental Memorial Chapel. He wholeheartedly served in the Ushers Ministry and Men’s Ministry, demonstrating his faith through service, leadership, and encouragement to others. He also spent many years supporting the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization, offering support, compassion, and fellowship to fellow veterans and their families.
Warren was preceded in death by his sister, Ola Mae, and his brothers, George and David. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, his children, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved and admired him.
Warren lived a life characterized by devotion to God, family, service, and country. His legacy of faith, strength, integrity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service starting at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Fort Eustis Regimental Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
