Rev. Vernon Augusta Sessoms, Sr., 68 , passed away Monday, October 23, 2006 in Sentara CarePlex Hospital, Hampton, VA. He was born May 27, 1938.

He leaves to cherish his memory; wife of 48 years, Mable Louise Sessoms; one daughter, Cottie Jones (Beresford) of Newport News, VA.; five sons, Troy Sessoms (Lillie) of Mount Clair, NJ, Stevie Sessoms of Hampton, VA., Vernon Sessoms, Jr. (Gloria) of Hampton, VA., Parnell Sessoms (Johnetta) of Virginia Beach, VA., and Eric Sessoms (Vickie) of Hampton, VA.; along with 13 grandchildren, he is survived by two brothers, Pete Sessoms (Edna) of Tarboro, NC., Bishop Herman L. Sessoms (Winnie) of Newport News, VA.; one sister, Clara Brinkley (Colon) of Newport News, VA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and his loving church family and friends.

Viewing will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 29, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th St. NN, VA. 23607. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 30 at River of Life Christian Church, 667 Hannah St. Hampton, VA. 23661. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
