Verlene Savage was born August 31, 1922, in Scotland Neck, NC to the late Thurman and Clara James.  She was united in holy matrimony with Eddie Savage, Sr.  From their union, God blessed them with 11 children.

Mom was a member of Rising Star Christian Church until her health begin to fail.  She loved the Lord and listening to gospel music.  She was a kindhearted soul that loved to cook and feed people.  Her door was always open, and she never met a stranger.  She loved to take care of her flowers and keep her part of the sidewalk clean of all the debris.  Children were her heart, and she always said that's why I had so many.  Mom always had time to listen and share a word of wisdom with those she spoke with.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, Columbus Savage, Newport News, Eddie Savage Jr. (Jessica) Davenport, Florida, Clara Perkins, Danbury CT, Verline Savage, Hampton, VA, Evelyn Stewart (Theodore) Smithfield, VA, Brenda Dolbery (Donald) Danbury CT, Lorenza Savage and Debra Jones (Vincent) of Newport News, VA.  36 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grands, 21 Great-Great Grandchildren, 3 Great, Great ,Great Grandchildren and one Niece and one Nephew

She was preceded in death by her late husband Eddie Savage, Sr, and her three sons Clarence, Melvin and Preston Savage

Viewing will be held from10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service starting at 12 Noon, Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at The Mount Peninsula Church in Yorktown, VA.  Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
