Mrs. Trudy Mae Barber Hilliard, born March 1, 1951 in Newport News, Virginia to Ada M. Turner Barber and Alfred B. Barber, Sr.  She entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

She graduated from Carver High School.  She was a supervisor at Christopher Newport College. She was a cook. Her favorite food was chicken and spaghetti, and on her spare time she likes to do crossword puzzles, listen to music and spend time with her kids.

She was the glue that held the family together.  She taught us the importance of family, faith, hard work, kindness, forgiveness and love.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pamela Delores Barber Alston; two nieces, Carleshia L. Alston, and Ronette O. Barber Hinson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory; one brother, Alfred Barber, Jr., of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Fleta L. Banks of Newport News, Va., and Clara Denise  Giles of Newport News, Va.; 3 children, James Hilliard (Kiwanda) of Carrollton, Va., Wendy Hilliard of Newport News, Va., Trudy Lorraine Hilliard of Newport News. Va.; seven grandchildren. ShaQuwanna Hilliard of TN., Dnejah Hilliard of NN., Sarain Frasler of NN., Tania Heckstall of NN, Travon Nathan of GA., Tevin Davis of Hampton, Va. and Ta'Mya Davis of Carrollton., VA.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News,Va. 23607. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the funeral chapel.
