Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Thurman Lee Glover , who departed this world on February 25, 2025, in Hampton, Virginia.  Born on August 28, 1951, in Newport News, Virginia, he was the cherished son of James H. Glover and Kelsie Glover.

Thurman Lee exemplified dedication and hard work throughout his life, culminating in a remarkable 32-year career as a Longshoreman with the International Longshoremen's Association.  His commitment to his craft was unwavering, and he took great pride in contributing to the community through his labor.  Earlier in his journey, he worked at the Newport News Shipyard, and later in life, he served as an Environmental Services Technician, ensuring the safety and well-being of those around him.

He will be fondly remembered as a hardworking, loving, and devoted individual qualities that defined his relationships as a son, brother, father, nephew, and uncle.  Thurman Lee took immense pride in being a nurturing son to his mother and a dedicated father to his children.  A true sports enthusiast, he found joy in cheering for the Washington Commanders, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and loyalty.

Thurman Lee is survived by his beloved mother, Kelsie Glover; his daughter, Kelsie Hill-Huston (Terance); his sons, Michael Anderson, Terrence Taylor, George Diamond, and Thurman Lee Diamond; his aunt, Margaret Patton; his cousins, James Daryl Patton (Jackie) and Regina Goforth, his nieces Jacqueline Walker-Butler and Kimberly Walker-Engle and his nephews, James Walker and Anthony Walker, and his special friend, Loretta Anderson.  He also leaves a legacy of love through his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will always carry his memory.

In eternal rest, he reunites with his father, James H. Glover; his brother, Hawthorne Walker Sr.; his sister, Denise Jones; his beloved daughter, Eraina Covington Smith; cousin, Reginald Goforth, and his nephew, Hawthorne Walker Jr.  Together, they are embraced in peace and love.

Thurman Lee's enduring spirit will be treasured by countless individuals, including many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.  His warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him, and he will be deeply missed.

A visitation to honor Thurman Lee will be held at Cooke Brothers Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Following this, a heartfelt funeral service will occur on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.  He will rest at the serene Hampton Memorial Gardens in Hampton, Virginia.

Thurman Lee Glover's legacy of love, strength, and unwavering spirit will forever reside in our hearts, inspiring us to carry his memory forward with gratitude and affection.
