Obituary

With a heavy heart, we announce that Thomas Darwin Boyd passed away suddenly on July 14, 2023.  He was born on June 5, 1990 in Hampton, Virginia.  A lifelong resident of Hampton, he graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin D. Boyd; grandmother, Ada Fudge; sister, Natasha Boyd-Colver; grandmother "Tati", Maria P. Jackson; and grandfather, John Raker.

Thomas had recently achieved two years of sobriety, a milestone that both he and his loved ones were immensely proud of.  He was a hard worker, a truther, and had an incredibly kind heart.  He was the type of guy that would always be there for a friend, and any room that he entered was illuminated by his presence.  You always knew you were in for a series of laughs when Thomas was around.

Sports were a big part of his life, and played a role in many bonds he shared with family and friends.  He would often gather with his brother and friends to watch UFC events.  He was an encyclopedia of knowledge when it came to his favorite teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys.  You could always count on him to tell you about how Darren Woodson deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.  Thomas was also an avid fantasy football manager, and even when out on top as the reigning Cult of Fantasy Champion.

He also had a passion for journalism, politics and world issues.  He was working on a book about the lack of true journalism in the world today and how the facts have taken a backseat to political agenda.  No matter what side of the aisle you were on, he was always willing to have an open discussion and never took anything personally.

Thomas is survived and will be missed by his mother, Maria Rew; stepfather, Barry Rew; brothers, Martin Anthony "Duke" Boyd, Christopher Raker, and Christopher Colver; nieces and nephews, Dylan Dallas, Caleb, Lily, Carmela, Elijah, Samara, Avisten, and Rayden; aunts, Tia Belen Raker and Vicki Boyd; uncles, Johnny and Kwi Boyd and David Boyd; sister-in-law, Kira Blumhorst; close friends, John Bellino, Cory O'Neal, Will Roach; his cat, Arya; and many more friends and family.

A private graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2023 at Parklawn Memorial Park.  A public memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
