Swindell Angelo Branch transitioned to his heavenly home on April 29, 2026, at Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

He was a native of Newport News, Virginia, and a longtime resident of Hampton, Virginia, where he lived for over 60 years. Swindell briefly served in the United States Marine Corps in the early 1980s and later worked at the Newport News Shipyard.

Swindell was known for his vibrant smile and generous sense of humor.  He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, often dedicating several hours each week to talking and laughing with them.

Anyone who met him quickly learned that he was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.  He was well-known throughout his neighborhood, and if you needed lawn care or other handyman services, Swindell was always someone you could count on. Whatever task he took on, he completed with excellence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlandus and Annie Branch.

He leaves to cherish his memory his three brothers, Orlandus Branch Sr. (Jeanne), Tony Branch Sr. (Corine), and Kevin Branch (Patricia); his sister, Delora Branch Mathis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will continue to honor and cherish his life.

Swindell’s spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of his loved ones. “Rest easy, Swol.”

Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service starting at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2026 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
