Sheldon Jackson Bunch, Jr. , was born January 17, 1946 in Norfolk, Va., to the late Sheldon Jackson Bunch, Sr. and Adell Pope Bunch.  He departed this life on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and became a member of Shalom Baptist Church.  Sheldon was the oldest of eight children.  He was educated in the Newport News were he then graduated from Huntington High School.  He attended Norfolk State University a few years before being drafted into the military, where he served in the United States Marine and becoming a Vietnam Veteran.  After serving in the United States Marine, he then married the love of his life, the late Gloria D. Batten and from that union a child was born; one daughter.

Sheldon worked for the United States Postal Service for many years before retiring.  He also worked at the Pines of York for many years and later he joined Temple of Peace.  Some of Sheldon's things he liked to do was watch his "Dallas Cowboys" every Sunday and eat peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and chocolate cake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sheldon J. Bunch, Sr. and Adell Pope Bunch; and his brothers, Benjamin and Kenneth.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving daughter, Tess L. Bunch of Newport News, Va.; three brothers, Grady Bunch (Barbara) of Hampton, Va., LeRoy Bunch of Newport News, Va., Ralph Bunch of Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Cordis Bunch of Hampton, Va., and Doretha English (Terry) of Columbia, SC.; grandchildren, Sheldon, Breianna, Justyn, and Brandi Bunch; three great-grandchildren, Kassidi, A'breille & Kasi; three nephews, Corey A. Bunch of Newport News, Va., Jelani A. and Terry English Jr., of Columbia, SC.; one great-niece, Camerin Langhorne Bunch of Newport News, Va.; and a host of cousins and friends, too numerous to name.

Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  A Celebration of Life service will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
