Obituary

Shana Shaunte Jones Gill was born on August 8, 1975, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and entered eternal rest on May 20, 2026. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and woman of faith whose life touched countless hearts.

Shana was preceded in death by her father, Gregory Lebron Watson, and her brother, Kevin Watson. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving parents, Jacqueline and Tony Wood; her siblings, twin sister Shasta Hutchinson (Kareem), Dedrick Watson, Tony Wood Jr. (fiance’ Lauren), and Antonio Wood; her four children, Theo Jones, Autumn Billips, London Gill, and Loghan Gill; and her four grandchildren, Khloe, Theo Jr., Liam, and Lior’ Navi. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, Trinity, Tonia, and Marley, and her nephews, Nile and Liam, along with many extended family members and friends.

Shana grew up in Hampton, Virginia, and was a proud graduate of Hampton High School, Class of 1993. During her school years, her unforgettable personality shone brightly, earning her Senior Class Hall Of Fame recognition as Class Clown and Most Wittiest. She later attended Norfolk State University before becoming one of the 757’s most gifted and respected nail technicians, winning awards for her nail designs, while employed at Kanoee’s Nail Gallery.

Shana was employed by Verizon Communications for 14 years before following her passion and transitioning back into the beauty industry. For more than 20 years, she shared her talent, creativity, and love for people as a nail technician. She was the proud owner of New Beginnings Nail Shop, where she not only created beautiful nails but also built lasting relationships, encouraged others, and made everyone who sat in her chair feel seen and loved.

She was a member of First Baptist Church Denbigh for 30+ years and then attended Love Christian Church in Newport News. Shana was a God-fearing woman who loved to sing, worship, and give God praise. She had a quirky, fiery personality that made her truly one of a kind. Her smile could brighten any space, and her infectious laugh could fill an entire room. Shana loved deeply, gave warm embraces freely, and never met a stranger. To know Shana was to love Shana.

Her presence, her laughter, her faith, and her love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Shana’s life was a beautiful reflection of joy, strength, humor, talent, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
