On September 23,2024 at Sentara Careplex, Samuel M. Hill Jr. was called to his final resting place. Samuel McClenny Hill Jr. 79, born November 8, 1945, to the late Samuel McClenny Hill Sr. and Queen Esther Hill in Sebrell, VA. He was one of three children born out of this union, his sister Mae Queen Harper of Suffolk, VA and his late sister Cathrine Jones of Chuckatuck, VA.
In his earlier years he received his academics at Isle of Wight County Training School also attending John F. Kennedy High School, where he met Constance Bailey who became his high school sweetheart. The two then were joined in holy matrimony December 16, 1968, from this union three children were born.
Samuel was a member of Sweet Haven Holy Church of God in his early years, later on followed his wife whom was the Pastor at The House of The Word Outreach Ministry and was ordained as Deacon Hill and often blessed the congregation with his voice as he would sing, As Decaen often taught bible study he taught from the Book of Job which was his favorite book in the bible.
Samuel began his early work career at Saunders Supply in Chuckatuck VA, he then went on to working at Smithfield Packing Plant, ending his career working 40 years at the Newport News Shipyard where he excelled at welding, chipping and grinding. Samuel enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones, he had a lot of hobbies as well, ranging from gardening, yard work, raising dogs, fixing on cars, fishing and sports. He was a man of wise words and shared his knowledge of what he knew with whomever would listen.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughter Pastor Deena Hill, son Samuel Hill III, and a son Carl Mayfield (Snapper), granddaughter Monique, grandsons Kerry and Damion; great-grandson, three great-granddaughter's, nieces, nephews, friends and family that were near and dear to his heart.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va.
