Richard W.
Hughes
d. Nov 2, 2024
It is with great sadness that on November 2, 2024 our family experienced the unexpected loss of our dearly beloved husband, brother, father, son and friend Richard Weldon Hughes IV. Richard was born on October 24,1977 in Anne Arundel County Maryland to Mr. Richard William Hughes III and his wife Mrs. Mary Anne Elizabeth Adams-Hughes.
Richard's life cannot be described in a simple word or phase because he was one of the few individuals that lived and loved fiercely and without apologies. His commitment and personal sacrifice for his wife, family and friends throughout his life will be remembered and shared in the stories and memories we all collectively and individually hold close to our heart and souls.
Richard was a proud member of the Armed Forces, serving proudly for our United States Army in the 101st Airborne division and his time spent in the mechanical and transportation sector only fueled his love for restoring cars and trucks over the future years. With his devotion to wellness and Fitness, Richard maintained his aspiration of being a Personal Trainer and became a certified Elite Master Trainer. He competed in the NPC Body Building competitions and won multiple awards, placing within the top 3.
Richard's love of all animals both feathered or four legged was beyond recognition. Constantly trying to better all of the rescues he has rehabbed over the years showed a tenderness of his heart that was beyond endearing. His love of cooking and always having a hot meal and a drink for anyone who crossed his doorstep was one of his greatest gifts to all who knew and loved him. There was never a doubt that his heart was always in the right place. Richard's laugh was intoxicating and his ability to never know a stranger or to ever turn his back to anyone in need wether it was a child in a store who was short on change or a stranger standing cold and hungry in the rain, he always gave even when it meant it left nothing for himself.
His devotion and love to his wife Lisa Simone Hughes was an 18 year adventure for both of them and a journey she will forever cherish and protect. His son Kobe Elijah Hughes was his greatest joy and he loved his son more than he could even express. Richard was a proud uncle of Mercedes Anne Marie Breeden, of Middletown, VA. His pride in her accomplishments as a mother and a young woman sharing in his dream of home steading is something she will carry with her the rest of her life. Richard's love of the ocean and a good strong cup of coffee and quiet early mornings and his gift of bringing everyone together and the love and compassion he gave and represented throughout his life will undoubtedly make the world a little less safe and a little colder as his soul now resides in a happier place that is free of the burdens we each carry day to day.
Richard Weldon Hughes IV was proceeded in death by his youngest sibling, and sister Corrie Rebekah Hughes and by his grandfather and grandmother Mr. Weldon Adams and Mrs. Gertrude Adams of Gloucester,VA and his grandfather Dr. Richard William Hughes II of Annapolis, Maryland.
Our lives will forever be less without his presence and even though we have the memories and pictures and stories to hold close, nothing will ever replace his presence in our lives. Richard Weldon Hughes IV was survived by his loving and cherished wife Lisa Simone Chambers-Hughes of Annapolis, Maryland, his mother Mary Anne Hughes-Sturtz and his step father Elwood Roy Sturtz of Hampton, VA, his father Richard William Hughes II of Edgewater, Maryland, his sister and her husband Jason and Sarah Owens of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, his brother Jeremiah John Hughes of Hampton, Va, his son Kobe Elijah Hughes of Newport News, Va, his niece and her husband Mercedes Anne Marie and Kevin Breeden of Middletown, VA and many more cousins, grand nieces and nephews and friends.
A fund will be set up as the days progress for contributions to one of the animal welfare and rehab centers that Richard was a part of. The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers go to the continued efforts to save the lives and improve the welfare of our animals in our community.
At this time the family has chosen to mourn and grieve the loss of our very loved and precious beloved Richard in private and a remembrance service will be held at a date to be announced by invitation only.
