Obituary

Pauline West-Boyd entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Sentara Careplex Hospital.

Born on February 14, 1950, a day known for love, it feels fitting that love became the foundation of who Pauline was.  She lived that love every day, not always in grand gestures, but in the quiet, steady ways that truly matter.

Pauline was many things to many people: a devoted mother, a loving wife, a caring sister, and a proud aunt.  No matter the role she was in, she showed up with her whole heart. Family wasn't just important to her, it was everything.

If we had to describe Pauline in just a few words, we would say she was kind hearted, giving, funny and outspoken.  She had a special way of making you feel safe and cared for, while still keeping things real.  And anyone who truly knew her probably smiles when they remember her voice saying, "Put this TV on bounce" and "Are we playing cards?" It's a simple phrase, but it captures her spirit, familiar, funny, and uniquely hers.

Above all else, Pauline West-Boyd will be remembered for her kindness.  It wasn't something she tried to be, it was simply who she was.  She gave love freely, helped without being asked, and cared deeply for the people in her life.  Her kindness touched everyone she encountered, and that is a legacy that will never fade.

Though we will miss Pauline deeply, we are comforted knowing that her love lives on through us in the way we care for one another, in the lessons she taught us, and in the memories we will always hold close.

Pauline is preceded by mother and father Frank and Nora Lee West, husband Franklyn Boyd and siblings Frank Drayton, Mildred Person, Wilhemina Missouri, Mable West, William Drayton, Lora Adams, Rosalee Dixon, Hattie Warren, Harold Drayton, Richard West, Robert West, Lula West and aunt Mary Alexander.  She leaves behind her daughter Shannon West-Coleman(John), step-son's David and Daryl Boyd, sister Dorothy Ferguson and Patsy Bracker.  She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Thank you, Pauline, for loving us the way you did. Your kindness will stay with us always.
