On June 3, 2017, Pauline Eley Tucker transitioned into eternal rest. She did so peacefully at home amongst family. Although she is not physically with us here on Earth, her spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of the many people she touched over 84 wondrous years. Pauline was born to the late Curtis and Beatrice Eley in Isle of Wight County, Virginia on October 24, 1932 and raised by the late Chansa and Rosa Purdie in Newport News, Virginia.

She attended Huntington High School and graduated in 1951. Pauline earned a cosmetology license and then continued her education and received an instructor's license to teach cosmetology. She taught at the Virginia School of Hair Design for over 25 years, where she also served as a Notary Public. Pauline was a devoted wife to Floyd Tucker for 57 years and together they raised seven children--three boys and 4 girls.

Pauline was a very special woman who was full of personality with a unique sense of humor that gives us the laughter and memories we will lean on to get us through this difficult time.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Tucker Sr. She also leaves her children Vanessa Santiful (Adolph), Regina Pritchard (John), Natalie Randolph (Kevin), Rapunzel Altmon (Linwood), and Floyd Tucker Jr. to cherish her memory along with her siblings Oretha Allmond and Curtis Eley Jr., daughter-in-law Joyce Woods, devoted nephew E.B. Moore Jr., 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Barbara Green, Beatrice Moore, and Floyd West, and her sons Celinto Woods (Joyce) and Duane Woods.

Pauline's life was a blessing. Her memory is a treasure. She is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. May she rest in peace. A Home Going service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Ivy Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The viewing will be held 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.
