Obituary

Constance Delois Bailey Hill gained her eternal wings peacefully on August 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

Constance, who was affectionately called "Connie" by those close to her, was born to the late William O. and Ida Lee Bailey on March 26, 1950, in Carrollton, VA.

Connie was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School which is also where she met the love of her life Samuel M. Hill Jr.  The two were joined in Holy Matrimony December 16, 1968, and from this union 3 children were born.

Connie was always a hard worker and devoted to whatever she put her mind and hands to.  After high school she would go on to work for General Electric (GE) for 15 years until their doors closed. Although, she retired early from GE, she could not keep still and begin a new career with AAFES in Fort Eustis.  After 25 years of diligent service to AAFES she retired.  Soon following her departure from AAFES she begins to work in the childcare department at the YMCA, she always had a deep love for children and in this role, she found joy and fulfillment.  Connie was employed by the YMCA for 14 years.

Connie gave her life to Christ at an early age.  She was a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the Voices of Sweet Haven, and was the church secretary. God called her to ministry in 1983, she preached her initial sermon "Jesus is my Bodyguard" under Bishop K.D. Johnson, and she never looked back. In 2000 she was ordained and installed as the Pastor of The House of the Word Outreach Ministry. She attended several schools while pastoring, Smith & Evans Bible College, Bethel Temple, and Servants in Training.  After pastoring for 27 years Connie was ordained Overseer in 2024.

Connie was a blessing to everyone she met. She loved hard and she loved the Lord. She lived her life as an example of the Lord's love for his people. Daily she would send morning text messages to inspire and encourage others. She would call and offer to pray with them wherever she felt prompted by God. She gave to the needy and visited the sick. She would love others even when she was not loved back by them. One of her favorite sayings was "For the Lord I live for the Lord I will die, before I take it back, I will add to it". One of her favorite scriptures was Jeremiah 32:27 "Behold I am the Lord thy God of all flesh is there anything too hard for God".

She was proceeded in death by her eldest daughter, Yvette D. Hill; and her grandson, Micheal R. Byrd. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 56 years, Samuel M. Hill Jr.; daughter, Deena Hill; and son, Samuel Ill; granddaughter, Monique; grandsons, Kerry and Damion; 1 great-grandson, 3 great-granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends that were dear to her heart.
