Mother Rose Mary Cox

October 23, 1949 - December 24, 2024

Mother Rose Mary Cox, received her heavenly wings on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at Old Dominion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newport News, Virginia.

She was born in St. Paul, Virginia to the Reverend Charlie Daniels and Bertha Shufford on October 23, 1949, both who preceded her in death in addition to her two sisters, Calanthe Daniels Blair, Oak Lee Daniels Cosby, five brothers: David Daniels, Robert Daniels, Damon Daniels, Joseph Daniels and Ezekial Daniels.

She was married to the late Booker Lee Cox in 1968 and to this union they were blessed with four sons: Booker Cox, Jr., Odell Cox, Charles Cox and Eric Cox all, all of Hampton, Virginia. Rose Mary was educated in the Scott County segregated school system. She joined the Job Corp to further her education and became a Nursing Assistant by trade. She continued her education by pursuing a Registered Nurse degree at Thomas Nelson Community College, Hampton, Virginia. She and her family stepped out in faith and opened "Cox Shoe Repair Shop" located downtown Hampton until their retirement.

She was a devoted woman of the Pentecostal Christian faith and consistently searched God's knowledge. She became a missionary to teach and preach the living word of God. She was a member of Greater Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ and visiting member at the Empowered Believers Christian Center where she was on the Radio Prayer Warriors Ministry and the Community Outreach for those in need.

Mother Cox leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her brother, Pythian Daniels (Coeburn, VA); her children, Booker Cox, Jr., Odell Cox (Pam), Charles Cox (LaToya) and Eric Cox (Kerri). She leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren, Leletta Ricks-Daggins (Issac), Alaska, Francesca Cox, Ciara Cox, Elijah Cox, LaToya Ibram (Carlos), Sharise Adams and 10 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, with public viewing two hours prior, at Greater Emmanuel Temple C.O.G.I.C., 1225 North King Street, Hampton, Virginia 23669, Bishop Michael B.
