Obituary

Michelle Denise Beverly

November 15, 1957 – June 7, 2026

With profound sadness and grateful hearts, we announce the passing of Michelle Denise Beverly, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 7, 2026, at her home, surrounded by love. After a courageous 10-year battle with cancer, Michelle departed this life exactly as she wished at peace and in the presence of those she loved most.

Born on November 15, 1957, at Travis Air Force Base in California, Michelle grew up in a proud Air Force family. She graduated from Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan, in 1978. Following her father's retirement, the family settled near Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. As a young woman, Michelle was presented as a debutante, an early reflection of the grace, elegance, and radiant smile that would define her throughout her life.

Michelle was a faithful and devoted member of Joynes Road Church of God in Hampton, Virginia. Gifted in communication and public speaking, she was often called upon to deliver Sunday greetings and church announcements. Her warm voice, welcoming spirit, and genuine love for people made everyone feel valued and at home. Michelle also had a remarkable talent for bringing people together. Whether planning family gatherings, celebrations, or special occasions, she did so with excellence, creativity, and joy. When it came to organizing an event, she was the one everyone turned to, no one did it better.

Following the passing of her beloved mother, Bernice Beverly, in 2011, Michelle became the matriarch and unwavering foundation of the Beverly family. With extraordinary strength, steadfast faith, and a heart full of love, she guided her siblings and family members, teaching them to walk in truth, love, and Scripture. She was their rock, their encourager, and a source of wisdom through every season of life.

Professionally, Michelle dedicated many years of service as a clerk with the Hampton Circuit Court, where she worked alongside Linda Batchelor Smith, Clerk of the Hampton Circuit Court. She was respected and admired by colleagues and members of the community alike for her professionalism, kindness, patience, and commitment to serving others with dignity and grace. Every person who approached her counter was met with respect, compassion, and a genuine willingness to help.

Michelle was also known for her fearless sense of style. She carried herself with confidence, elegance, and joy, always wearing a beautiful smile that could brighten any room. She loved life deeply and lived it fully. Although the final weeks of her illness were physically difficult, her faith remained steadfast and her spirit never wavered. We thank God for the gift of her life, for the legacy she leaves behind, and for setting her free to soar in His heavenly presence.

Michelle was preceded in death by her husbands, Bud Reeves and Arturo Willis; her brothers-in-law, Dwayne Raboteau and Earl Manning; her niece, Chelsea Jones; her nephew, Mason Raboteau; and her beloved mother, Bernice Beverly. Bernice loved fiercely, gave selflessly, and led her family with quiet strength. Her legacy of faith, love, and sacrifice continues to live on through each generation.

Michelle leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Zarist, whom she loved beyond measure and who cherished his mother dearly; her granddaughter, Zaniah Wong and her husband, Shaquille; her beloved daughter-in-law, Brandy Renee Powell; her grandchildren, Noni Wong and Riyo Wong; her loving father, Winston Beverly, age 92, and his wife, Janice Perry; her brother, Antonio Kim Beverly and his wife, Janice Lee-Beverly; her sisters, Judy Raboteau, Jean Robinson and her husband, Derick, Lolita McMillan and her husband, Jerry, and Robin Manning; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, her church family at Joynes Road Church of God, and her colleagues at the Hampton Circuit Court, many of whom became family. The family finds comfort in knowing that Michelle is finally at peace and resting in the loving arms of her Savior. They ask for continued prayers, especially for her beloved son, Zarist.Memorial service details will be announced by the family.Matthew 25:23 "Well done, good and faithful servant...
