On Saturday, July 22, 2023, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend entered into eternal rest.
Michael, affectionately known as "Big Jack", was born in Hampton, VA.  He attended Hampton City Schools, where he loved and played the sport of football.  Shortly after graduating Hampton High School, Michael joined the United States Army and served as an Airborne Ranger, Special Forces Division.  Upon returning home from the military, he was employed by Hampton University until his retirement.  He was also employed with Bernard Company until his passing.

Michael was a member of Cornerstone Worship Center International where he served as a Deacon.  He was known as a servant leader who cared about everyone, especially his family. Michael always expressed his love for others through his cooking. You didn't really know Big Jack unless he invited you over to one of his famous cook outs.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria A. Martin, sister, Karen L. Gordon, and grandson Jarrit Green Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Phyllis Jackson, three sons Donny Green, Thaddeus Henry, Jarrit Green and one daughter Shawnia Henry, seven grandchildren Myaja Swinton, Tayjah Jones, Michael Rosinski, Sinaiyah Henry, Janaiya Woodyard, Johannes Green and three great grandchildren.  Three sisters Ruby "Cookie" Smith, Terri Young (John) and Shellene Martin, one brother Kenneth Martin (Tiesha), uncle Sonny Anderson (Mae), mother-in-law Joyce Sanders, sisters-in-law Brenda Walker (Kenneth), and Dorine H. Richard-Boone (Lawrence), brother-in-law Thomas Henry (Shona); and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, July 31,2023 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th street, Newport News,VA. 23607.
