Dr. Maria V. Parker , born July 17, 1942 to the late Audrey and Archie Lee Parker, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2025.

She attended the Jersey City Public School System.  Maria Parker achieved a Doctorate in Mathematical Education from attending: Jersey City State College, Seton Hall University and South Eastern University.  She was an AKA Sorority Pledge member.

She started at Newark Irvington Union, then Plainfield and proceeded to Ashbury Park where she retired, then moved to Hampton, Virginia, where she came out of retirement to teach at Spratley and Bridgeport Academy.  She then retired to enjoy her life.

Maria was a generous, protective and caring person to all who were lucky enough to get to know her.  She was a bright, vibrant and energetic woman who had a "Gas and Go" motto that kept her life exciting and adventurous.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tyrone Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; her children, Robert Jackson, Alfred Jackson, Jonessa Jones Payne (Kenneth Payne Jr.); her granddaughters, Josalyn Green Jones, Christina Jackson, and Cierra; her god-daughter, Tamika Fields; her great-grandmother, Inez Parker; her sisters, Carolyn Spurling and Ingrid Parker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the funeral home chapel.
