Obituary

Margaret Yvonne Taylor peacefully entered into God's eternal rest at her residence on Friday, September 22, 2023.  She was born in New Haven, CT and raised in Laurel Beach, in Milford, CT.

Yvonne attended Kay Avenue Elementary School in Milford, where she excelled in mathematics.  She was very athletic as a child, and won numerous awards for swimming and tennis at the Laurel Beach tournaments held each summer.  She also enjoyed riding horses at Silver Horseshoe Stables, camping around the perimeter of the United States, and trips to the Caribbean, with her family.

Yvonne attended, and was christened, at Dixwell Avenue United Church of Christ, in New Haven. She was also a member of the Milford Chapter of Jack and Jill. Her high school years were split between Jonathan Law, H.S. in Milford, CT and Hampton High School in Hampton, VA.  She was a Crabber!

Yvonne spent her adult life in Hampton where she raised 2 daughters, Meghan and Jessica, along with numerous fur babies Domino "Angel" Angelus and Midnight Bandit, just to name a few.  In the kitchen she could concoct anything, and she was known for her legendary casseroles. She also will be fondly remembered for her unique way of ordering food at restaurants.  She would turn the most basic entrée into a culinary masterpiece tailored just for her!  And her order better be right!

Yvonne danced to her own beat and didn't care who saw.  She had a big heart and would literally give you the shirt off her back. Her smile would light any room she entered and her laughter was infectious. She loved her daughters, but her grandchildren were her life.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Margaret Taylor, bio mother, Winnifred Mead, her brothers Gordon Mead (Laura), Kenneth Mead, Sr. and her beloved partner, Walter "Chucky" Williams, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters Meghan J. Taylor-Stith and Jessica W. Powell (Patrick), sisters Dorothy Berry, Lisa Taylor (Mark), Laura Mead Morales, a brother Gary Mead (Christina), her special friend Charles Sykes, her grandchildren Kyndall Newby, Ashleigh Roland, Hayden Roland, Kendric Dixon, Kara Lee, Liberty Roland and Samuel Roland, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss her dearly.
