Mae Alice Brown, 82, of Newport News, Virginia born on March 16, 1942 passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her husband by her side on October 9, 2024. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jason and Laura Webb along with her two brothers Jethro and Ernest.

After high school, Mae attended beauty school and later earned her GED. Mae enjoyed a variety of interests including sports, sewing, singing, gardening and cooking. She found joy in ministering to inmates and the elderly, sharing her compassion and kindness with others.

Mae was a devoted wife to her husband, Robert Brown, Sr. for 64 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She is survived by her children, Bonita Brown, Juanita Jones (Kelvin), Robert Brown Jr (Shirley), Teresa Richardson (Marque) and Janise Wallace (Ima). She cherished her role as grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
