Our dearly beloved, Mabel Branch Jenkins Randall born January 9, 1929 to the late William and Gladys Boyd Branch in Weldon, North Carolina. was an only child. She is preceded in death by her son Jerry Lee Jenkins.
Mabel accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was
baptized. Educated in the Weldon , NC school system, Mabel completed High School. She love reading books, and continued that passion all her life. She started sewing as a child making clothes for her dolls. Gifted with a wide range of design skills; Mabel was a seamstress and a tailor. Worked at Gloria Manufacture and Benai Alby, two clothing companies in Newport News, Va. At Gloria, Mabel was involved in the strike that brought the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) into the factory; she became a member. As an entrepreneur, she was an Avon Rep for more than 40 years, had a shop in Newport News, performed custom work and alterations for clients. She became Internet savvy, on social media, streaming and running her internet business on Etsy; Mabelcrafts.com
Devotedly loved her family and friends. She was a very good listener and had wisdom to share. She leaves to mourn her passing husband, Theodore Randall, one daughter Diane Jenkins Cypress of Norfolk, one step-daughter, Lisa Randall Brinkley(Frederick) of Houston, Tx.; two sons, Joseph L Jenkins (Patricia) of Hampton, Virginia, Grady J Jenkins of Atlanta, Ga. Three granddaughters, Anazyia Jenkins of Hampton, Shanda Jenkins of Newport News, Va., Diamond Jenkins Patterson(Ray) of Atlanta, Ga.. Three grandsons; Jerry Jenkins of Hampton, Va., Jemere Jenkins(Tiara) of Hampton,Va., Ashley Jenkins(Taryn) of Atlanta, Ga, sixteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing a very special sister/friend, Catherine Brown and a host of relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, VA. 23607. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2024 at the chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
