Obituary

L'Tayna Graham , was born on April 24, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents Rudolph and Willie Mae Hooper. She was called home from labor to rest on September 20, 2025.

Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by her grandparents, Samuel and Willette Holmes; parents, Rudolph and Willie Mae Hooper; and brothers, Robert James and William Thomas Hooper.

She graduated from the Baltimore City School system at Eastern High School. She continued her education by beginning nursing training. This propelled her to finally supervise a skilled care coordinator and a hospice unit.

At an early age, she gave her life to Christ at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where she served on the usher board and sang in the choir.

She met her future husband, James, in their teens. Later, they were married and a son, Sean R. Graham, was born from this union. The Graham family relocated to Virginia, where she joined First Baptist Church Jefferson Park, under the leadership of Pastor Reginald C. Woodhouse. She served as a faithful servant and disciple of Christ as a Deaconess for ten years and a Missionary for over fifteen years.

Mrs. Graham is survived by her husband, James, and son, Sean Graham, and grandchildren, Sean (Pierina) Maycox, Remon Graham, Rodney, Shawn, Layla, Ariah, Amelia, and Sean, Jr. She is also survived by her brother, Apostle Clarence Hooper, Sister Deborah Crockett, and a host of nieces and nephews: Milton, Marvin, Matthew, Kwanzaa, Burnis, Tavon, Antoine, Darrin, Kish, Rafiq Ahmad, Reba Jones, Monzella Hicks and Magora Parker.

Viewing will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 10, 2025 at First Baptist Church Jefferson Park, 615-42nd Street, Newport News, Va. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
