Lori Ann Vasquez was born on July 31, 1967 in Denver, Colorado to Manuel and Nancy Vasquez. She passed away unexpectedly on August 5, 2024 in Suffolk, Virginia.
Lori was a bright, energetic and inquisitive child. Her resourcefulness and thinking outside the box made her an interesting little personality.
When she was five years old, her family moved to Ecuador, South America as missionaries for three years. Lori would join the local children playing games with them in the street and learned Spanish in the process.
Lori grew up in a Seventh-day Adventist Christian home. She had a tender heart toward the Lord. She loved listening to Bible stories and put many scripture verses to memory. When she was ten years old, she wanted to give her heart to the Lord and was baptized.
Lori graduated from Newbury Park Academy in Newbury Park, California and then went on to study nursing at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated in 1989 receiving her BSN (bachelor of nursing) degree.
Lori was adventurous and had many interests. She loved to travel, visiting many countries around the world. She liked to fly and earned her pilot's license, and she was also a licensed scuba diver. One of her memorable adventures was swimming with the sharks. Geocaching and garage saleing were two of her other interests.
Lori had an admirable work ethic that took her far in life in her career. In 1992 she moved from California to Newport News, Virginia where she continued her nursing career as an OB nurse at Bon Secours Hospital and Sentara Careplex Hospital. She continued her employment there until the time of her death.
Lori leaves behind her mother Nancy Vasquez, sisters Julie Pena (Bobby) and Sherri Andersson (Erik); nephews: Lorenzo and Max Pena, Manuel Andersson; nieces: Valentina, Giovanna and Carmela Andersson. Godson Khalid Baldwin, Jr.; stepdaughters Stevie Vasquez and Haley Crippen, aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as many dear friends and co-workers.
