Obituary

Lisa Yvwonga Stanley was born on April 08, 1973, to Annie G Stanley and M. Robinson in Hampton, Virginia.  She was called home to be with the Lord on March 04, 2023, after a long illness.

Lisa did not graduate with her high school class, however; with a lot of persistence and dedication, she did obtain a high school equivalency diploma and later enrolled in a psychology program at Grand Canyon University.  She nearly completed her degree but unfortunately, was forced to withdraw, due to medical issues.

Lisa was a very strong-willed person who wasn't afraid to speak her mind.  She had an outgoing personality and treated people fairly.  She was a caregiver to many of her younger cousins who she watched over (and disciplined) often over the years.  She had a good appetite from an early age and was particular about how her food should taste, which she acquired from many mealtimes with her beloved grandfather as a little girl. During her earlier years, she would not stand for bullies and the mistreatment of others and often stood up for those who were unfairly treated or targeted.  She was especially protective of her little sister and made sure that she was always watched over.  Lisa had her two children at an early age; however, she always believed it was meant to be due to the medical issues she experienced later on which would have prevented their births.  She raised her children as a single mother and taught them to watch out for and protect one another.  She was also a devoted grandmother to her two granddaughters, whom she loved unconditionally and strived to be present in their lives as best she could, and a grandson with whom she wanted to spend more time.

Lisa had a generous spirit and wouldn't hesitate to offer whatever she had to those in need, whether it be a meal, her home or a few dollars, regardless of how little she herself may have had.  This generosity extended to strangers as well.  She was a forgiving person who loved the Lord and knew how to call on and depend on him.  She did not judge others and she loved people.  She always made visitors feel welcomed in her home.  She was grateful for her blessings.

Lisa leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter LeAnne Stanley; her Sister LaWanda Gregory, her Father Mckinley Gregory, three grandchildren, Aunts, Uncles and a host of cousins and friends.

Lisa was preceded in death by her son Antonio L Stanley, her mother Annie Stanley-Gregory and her grandparents Ernest and Allene Stanley.
