Lisa Marie Carter, 58, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Her grandmother was from Jamaica, after relocating to the United States her mother, Elaine Mae Crawford gave birth to her on December 7, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York.

She attended the New York City Public School System.  She enrolled in the United States Army.  While in the military, she married Brian Carter, relocated to Virginia, and one child was born, her beloved son, Byron Carter in 1986.  She devoted her life to her only child.  Later in her life, striving for betterment, security, she attended Thomas Nelson Community College and obtained a Business Degree.

Lisa was a passionate person, she loved music, spending time with her friends, being social, always positive, always had something to say, she loved cooking, going to new places and trying new things.  She was a supervisor at Hampton Roads Community Service Board, in which she enjoyed her job, loved the connections she made and the families she helped.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Elaine Mae Facey; her step-dad, Lascells Facey; her grandmother, Mercybell Crawford.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved son and grandson, Byron Carter and Jaiden Carter; along with a host of friends who became family along the way.  Some bonds being stronger than family.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

She would love to be remembered for being fun, charismatic, open minded and very perspective.

A memorial service honoring her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Virginia.  Following the memorial service, a repast will be held at Juciy King Crab House, 55 Towne Centre Wy, Hampton, VA 23666 from 3:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m.
