Obituary

LeRoy Janeerio Davis , born on May 27, 1938, was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Boone of Hampton, Virginia.  After a brief illness, he gained his heavenly wings while transitioning from his earthly life to his eternal life on July 5 th at Sentara Careplex Hospital.

His humble and kind-spirited memories are left to be cherished by his devoted and loving wife of 29 years, Lynn Iris Davis of Hampton, Virginia, a stepdaughter, Angela Green of Newport News, Virginia (Maurice), a stepson, Ivan Pierce of Richmond, Virginia, one brother, Eugene Boone, Jr. of Irvine, California (Yomi), three step granddaughters: Courtney Slade of Chesapeake, Virginia, Kristy Slade of Newport News, Virginia, and Kayla Slade of Newport News, Virginia, and a host of step great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

LeRoy received his primary education in the Brunswick County School System in Brunswick, Virginia and upon relocation to Hampton, completed his remaining secondary education at Phoebus High school with Hampton City Public School System.  He later attended Norfolk State University for several years. LeRoy retired after working 30 years as a professional ship fitter for the Newport News Shipbuilding Company in Newport News, Virginia.

LeRoy accepted Christ at an early age in life and became a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia. Later as an adult, he joined World Victory Church and Life Center in Newport News, Virginia where he served as a dedicated member, usher, and deacon for many years. At his age of retirement, he assumed the role of Deacon Emeritus at the church.  He loved Christ, his "Sugar Lump," his stepchildren, all of his family and friends. As a stepfather, he was very instrumental in encouraging his step children to attain a college education and professional careers. He was also an avid lover and collector of jazz music and would spend countless hours listening to jazz in his spare time.

Viewing will be held Sunday, July 12,2020 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Monday , July 13, 2020 at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
