Obituary

Keith Burden, 71, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away on September 25, 2026. A beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, Keith leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy defined by hard work, honesty, generosity, and an unmistakable personality that will never be forgotten.

Keith was born to the late Leon Burden Sr. and Audrey Burden. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Leon Burden Jr. and Diana Burden.

For 39 years, Keith worked for Dominion Power, building a career that reflected the strong work ethic he carried throughout his life. Keith believed in working hard, but he also knew how to enjoy the life he worked so hard to build.

Those who knew Keith knew exactly where they stood with him. He was a straight shooter who was honest beyond measure. Genuine, charismatic, and smart, Keith had a big heart and an even bigger personality. He pulled no punches, and that authenticity was part of what made him Keith. You never had to wonder what he was thinking, and you could always count on him to be himself.

Keith also had an undeniable sense of style. He had taste, class, and a way of carrying himself that was uniquely his own. Whether it was the clothes he wore, the car he drove, the motorcycle he rode, or the personal touches he added to the things he owned, Keith had a natural cool about him that simply couldn't be taught. He was confident, sharp, and effortlessly stylish. To those who knew and loved him, Keith wasn't trying to be cool. He just simply was.

Keith had a natural ability to work with his hands and could fix just about anything. He loved automobiles and motorcycles and especially enjoyed taking things apart, adding his own personal flair, and putting them back together again. Whether behind the wheel of an automobile or on his motorcycle, Keith enjoyed the freedom of a long ride, often with some good R&B playing along the way.

He also knew how to enjoy good food and good company. Keith would travel for a meal he wanted and thought nothing of picking up pastries, desserts, or other treats simply to invite family and friends over to share them. For Keith, food was another way to bring people together. Some of the best moments were simply spent eating, talking, laughing, and enjoying one another's company.

Above all, Keith loved his family and friends. He showed that love in his own unique way, through his generosity, his presence, his honesty, and the countless things he did for the people who mattered to him.

Keith leaves to cherish his memory his son, Keith Burden Doswell; his niece, Tamara Gibson, whom he loved and raised as a daughter; and a host of family members, friends, former colleagues, and loved ones whose lives were touched simply by knowing him.

Keith was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, and a friend to many. He worked hard. He loved deeply. He enjoyed life. And most importantly, he lived it as himself, unapologetically and authentically.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his laughter, his honesty, his unmistakable style, and the many memories he created will remain with those who loved him for years to come.
