Kara R. Bryant departed her earthly life on July 8, 2023, after a very short illness, in Riverside Medical Center.  She was born on November 12, 1996, to Edwina Bryant Higgs and Anthony Powell.

Kara was predeceased by her brother, Jeffrey V. Higgs, Jr.  She leaves a beautiful, precious baby girl, Senora Lovely, for us to love, pray for and to hold close to our hearts.  She also leaves to celebrate her life, her mother, Edwina Bryant Higgs; her father, Anthony Powell; five brothers, Maurice C. Higgs (Monica), Myron L. Higgs, Jarius A. Bryant, Tony M. Bryant and Jordan Bryant, and her grandmother, Mary Mills (Patrick), she also leaves behind her uncle, Michael Bryant of Hampton, Va.; a host of great uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives.

Kara was educated in the Newport News Public School System, as well as, in the Hampton Public School System, graduating from Bethel High School. She attended the What'z Up club as a young girl.  She obtained her PCA certificate as a Nurses Aide from from the Newport News/Hampton Community Services Board.  She had an interest in doing hair and applying makeup, and she enrolled in  Luckes Beauty Academy.  Kara had a beautiful sense of humor and loved to laugh.  She could demonstrate a very smart and sweet quality about her personality.  Kara's brother, Tony, could make her laugh and smile when things got a little tough for her.  He was her protector in many ways.

She was a spiritual soul, having received baptism earlier in her young life.  Before her passing, she asked for forgiveness for all her transgressions, and thanked God and thanked Jesus!  She could demonstrate a very smart and sweet quality about her personality. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. A funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
