Mr. Johnny Louis Roberson, 84, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 in Newport News, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mark Jackson; and his brother, Lathan A. Roberson.

Johnny was born on April 16, 1940 to Cottie Crandell and Jesse Andrew Roberson in Martin, North Carolina.  On January 30, 1968, he married Georgia Mae Gholson in Newport News, Virginia.  Johnny worked for Newport News Shipbuilding as a supervisor in Department X33.  He retired after 39 years in 2002.  He enjoyed working in the yard, cleaning up his cars, spending time with his family, and playing his lottery numbers.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Mae Roberson of Newport News; his four daughters, Wanda Roberson of Hampton, Va., Angela Roberson of Virginia Beach, Va., Sherry Roberson Mercer of Rocky Mount, NC., and Gwendolyn Roberson Ndiaye of Bronx, NY.; his grandchildren, Johwann, Jada, Shaquanna, Devin, Keiland, Tevin, Adrian and Devon; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mable Sessoms of Virginia Beach and Daisy Council of Hampton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 11:00-5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607.  A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
