John P. Battle was born July 6, 1963 to the late Mary L. Battle and John D. Battle in Hampton, Virginia.  He peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on August 20, 2024.

John met his best friend, Dietra Battle in 1989, who soon became his wife in 1994.  They share one beautiful daughter, Briana Tiara Battle.

John was devotedly known as "Paul" by family and friends.  He enjoyed fishing, mechanics, grilling, and family outings.  He was a jack-of-all-trades.

John leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Dietra Battle; daughter, Briana Tiara Battle; six sisters and two brothers, Betty Twyman (Johnny), Mary McClenney (Mack), Shirley Staton (Charlie), Herbert Battle (Sylvia), Brenda Patterson (Keith), Donna Joyner (Clarence), Christine Wright, Larry Battle (Jacqueline); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special-friends.

Viewing will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, VA. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 5405 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, Va.   The Entombment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
