Obituary

Mr. Jeff "Buckskin" Davis Jr., age 74, passed away on November 1, 2025 in Hampton, Virginia.  Born on November 24, 1950, in Tarboro, North Carolina, Jeff lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep love for family and community.

Jeff attended Edgecombe County Public School in North Carolina.  After completing his education, he built a long and dedicated career as a welder at Howmet Corp., where he worked until his retirement.  Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, Jeff took pride in his craft and the relationships he formed throughout his career.

Affectionately known as "Buckskin," Jeff was a fun-loving person with a kind heart.  He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation.  His warmth and generosity left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know him.

Jeff had a passion for fishing and spent many peaceful hours casting lines and enjoying the outdoors.  He also loved playing softball and baseball, sports that brought him joy and camaraderie over the years.  Music was another source of happiness for Jeff; he especially enjoyed listening to the "oldies but goodies," which often filled the air wherever he went.  He was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and North Carolina Tarheels.

Jeff leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his son, Jamaal Davis; daughter, Tacara Glasper; grandchildren, Shamaal Joshua Smith, Zaniya Kay Moody, and Neveah Guy-Davis; one sister, Susie Morris (Dennis) of Princeville, North Carolina; three brothers, Bruce Davis (Sylvia), Dennis Davis, and Joseph Davis (Barbara), all of Tarboro, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Davis and Barbara Davis of Princeville, North Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Jeff "Shorty" Davis II; parents, Jefferson Davis and Josephine Condery Davis; brothers, James Calvin Davis, Curtis Lee Davis, James Leon Davis, Johnnie Davis; and sister, Beulah Ree Lyons.

Jeff's legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for those around him.  His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
