Jeanie LaVerne Watson transitioned from labor to reward to her Heavenly Home on August 31, 2023 at the age of 72. Jeanie was born March 26, 1951 to the late Roy Sr and Emily Mathis.

Jeanie wore many hats, a mother, sister, grandmother, educator but most of all, a true friend. Jeanie loved children and she spent her life loving and caring for all of them.

Along with her parents, Jeanie was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Mathis, her nephew, Marcus Whitaker and her son, Fredrick Watson.

Cherishing her loving memory is one son; Emery Watson (Shilanda) of  Amsterdam New York, two sisters; Helen Whitaker of Freeport New York and Shirley Whitaker of Hampton, Va, one brother; Roy Mathis Jr. of Newport News,Va, one grandson Emmerie Watson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jeanie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  A Celebration of Life service will be  held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
