Obituary

James Robert Leinart, Jim, departed this life to meet the Lord on July 23rd, 2026 from his home in Hampton, Virginia.  He was born in Etowah, Tennessee on May 11, 1944.  He was a good son and brother within his family.  He was a faithful and loving husband to his wife Elaine throughout their nearly sixty years of marriage.  He was a loving father to their children, Sharon, Andy and Becky.  He was also a caring grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle.  He was a hard worker for and a good friend to so many people.  Above all, he was devoted and faithful to Jesus Christ, who was his great hope.

Jim's death came more quickly than expected; however, it also seemed to be held at bay for nearly fifteen years after a procedure in 2012 to remove pre-cancerous cysts.  Very recently, Jim came home as Elaine was listening to a reading of the Bible on their CD player.  The passage that was being read concerned the fifteen additional years of life that God gave King Hezekiah when he was originally ill.  Jim told Elaine that he perceived God was telling him he had been given, like Hezekiah, his fifteen years of additional life.  We thank God for the time we were able to have with Jim, knowing that God's timing is perfect.  We miss him, but by God's grace and mercy our sadness will be consumed by the fire of God's love.

The family wants to thank those who prayed and supported Jim and his family during this time.  We are also grateful for the care and attention Jim received by MediOne Hospice and Veterans Affairs personnel, especially Dr. Closs and Dr. Vozzo."

A memorial service will be held 12 noon, Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Grace Fellowship Church.
