Isaac Jerome
Lane
d. May 13, 2025
Born on October 11, 1972, to Cornelius Lane and Glendora (Whittington) Lane in Salisbury, Maryland, Isaac was a beloved son whose life was shaped by the values of family, service, and resilience. As a proud military child, he experienced the richness of life across many places—growing up in New Jersey, Alabama, Germany, and ultimately settling in the Tidewater region of Virginia. These diverse experiences helped shape his character, giving him a deep appreciation for people, cultures, and the importance of home.
A graduate of Gloucester High School in Gloucester, Virginia, Isaac chose to remain in the area that had become home. Over the years, he held a variety of roles, working in retail, pursuing self-employment, and contributing in many other ways, always bringing dedication and heart to whatever he did.
Isaac's greatest pride and joy came from his role as a father. He was first blessed with a son, Malcolm Holmes, and in 1998, he married the love of his life, Kashera Boone. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and together they welcomed four sons into the world, building a family grounded in love, laughter, and shared purpose.
Isaac was a natural comedian, known for his contagious sense of humor that could light up any room. He had a joyful spirit and an infectious laugh that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. A true lover of life's simple pleasures, he found happiness in listening to music from the 70s, a soundtrack that spoke to his soul.
Isaac's creativity knew no bounds. He loved crabbing, painting, and especially repurposing furniture, often turning the ordinary into something extraordinary. He had a keen eye for eclectic art pieces and a special talent for decorating spaces with warmth and character. No project was too small or too ambitious; he approached each one with precision and pride, always equipped with a measuring tape and leveler. His perfectionist nature earned him the affectionate nickname "Fred Sanford," a nod to his uncanny ability to spot hidden treasures on the side of the street or in thrift stores, bringing them home and giving them new life.
Isaac was deeply compassionate and always attuned to the needs of others. Whether it was a friend, family member, or stranger on the side of the road, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Selfless and generous by nature, he believed he was placed on this earth to serve others—and he lived by that conviction every day. His personal motto was simple but profound: "If I can help someone, I will." Isaac's acts of kindness—both big and small—left lasting imprints on the lives of many, a true reflection of the love and empathy that guided his every step.
In quieter moments, Isaac could be found watching chefs on the Food Network, fascinated by their techniques and always eager to discuss recipes, flavors, and kitchen tips with anyone who would listen. His love for food, creativity, and conversation made him not only entertaining, but endearing.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his devoted wife, Kashera Boone; his beloved sons: Malcolm Holmes, Kaylan Johnson, Khorey Boone, Xavier Lane (Aiyanna), and Isaac Lane, Jr. (Ianna); and ten precious grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
He is also survived by his loving parents, Cornelius "Bo" Lane and Glendora "Dee" Lane; his sisters, Keisha Cottingham and Nicole Thomas (Shanta); his brother, Markieth "Tooty" Lane; his mother-in-law, Patricia Boone; his father-in-law, Jessie Boone (Sandra); sister in-law, Tunisha Moore; and his cherished maternal grandmother, Rosie Whittington-Beckett.
Isaac's circle of love extends to a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends whose lives he touched. Among them, his lifelong best friend, Walter Stephenson, held a special place in his heart.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, James "Buster" and Annie B. Lane, and his maternal grandfather, James H. Whittington. Their memory remained dear to Isaac, and he carried their love and legacy with him throughout his life.
Isaac's presence was a gift full of laughter, creativity, and unwavering love, and while he left this world far too soon, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
