George Ellis King, Jr . entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.  His life began on July 7, 1941, the son of the late Viola A. and George E. King, Sr.  He is preceded in death, by his sister, Valton J. Jones.

In his younger days, George lived in Manhattan, New York where he started a family with Frances Bethea. He worked in construction and warehousing, and enjoyed spending time with his sister Valton and her family, playing checkers, Bid Whist, and riding his bike into his late seventies.

George leaves behind three sons, Emmanuel King, George King, and Michael King; four grandchildren, Michael King, Treyveyon King, Tamaya King, and Bryson King; nephews, Joseph Ellsworth, Michael Ellsworth, and Ronald Ellsworth, Sr., and niece, Cheryl Brandon.

Viewing will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
