Obituary

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me on that day: And not to me only but unto all them that love His appearing." ( 2 Timothy 4: 7-8)

Genida Marie Searles, 61, of Saint Mary's, GA passed away April 9, 2023 in Brunswick, GA at Southeast GA Health System - Brunswick Campus.

Genida was born on July 29, 1961 in Newport News, VA to John T. Cofield Sr and Marie Johnson Cofield. She attended Homer L Ferguson High School and Graduated class of 1979.

She was a dedicated United States Government employee for 35 years until she retired in 2015 as the EEO Manager at Kings Bay Navy Submarine Base in Kings Bay, GA.

She enjoyed reading, painting sea shells, going out and trying new places to eat and home-cooked meals, talking to her children, and listening to Gospel music. She lived her life by her favorite prayer.

" God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."

Genida had many accomplishments in life, she was a girl scout cookie mom and a supporter of both Girl and Boy Scouts. She received and helped her children achieve many accomplishments during their time in the scouts. She was a dedicated mother, who committed her life to raise her children, encouraging them to pursue education, work for opportunities and invest in their futures. She was the most loving and caring person and no matter what anybody did to her she always forgave and walked around with a loving heart. Genida was all about family. Family no matter what was her favorite saying, she never gave up on anyone or anything. Genida was a strong woman and a fighter.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her Grandmother Dorothy Lee Johnson Wallace, Mother, Marie Cofield, and loving husband, Michael Searles of 43 years.  Three children, Ronnie Searles, Michelle Searles, and Mika Searles.  Four brothers, Harry "Andre" Johnson, Antonio "Tony" Golden, Antwine "Goo-Goo" Cofield, and John T. Cofield Jr. (Jennifer). Two sisters; Anglo "Ann" Cofield and Teresa "Lady" Jones (Chris). Two grandchildren, Roland Searles, and Ryland Searles. A host of family, friends, and colleagues. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
