Esther C. Allen was born on January 13, 1936, in South Hampton County, Virginia to Leola Carson and Willie Davis. She was passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024 in the comfort of her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was the oldest of 4 children.  She later moved to (Morrison) Newport News, Virginia where she was employed by Newport News Public Schools until her retirement after years of dedicated service. Esther enjoyed making her special desserts such as banana pudding, rice pudding and sweet potato pies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Carson and Charles Carson, Jr; grandson, Michael Allen, Jr.; great-grandson, Navy Cousins.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles W. Allen and her sister Leola Mae Carson; 7 children, Charles Allen, Jr. (Michelle), Valarie Knight, Linda Ivey (Wayne), Jeffery Allen (Danita), Theophilus Allen (Catrina), Michael Allen, Daphne Cousins (Wilbert); 11 grandchildren; Armando Allen (Kamillah), Carla Moore (Felton), Lenetia Mayo (Alexious), Jeffery L. Allen, Tevin Cousins (April), Devin Cousins, Jordan Allen, Debra Allen, Mikayla Allen, Darius Ivey, and Charles J. Allen; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  Entombment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
