On Wednesday, July 24, 2024 Elwin Rayvarn Ponds quietly left on his journey to his new home in Glory.  He departed this life of seventy two years in his sister Patrice Ponds home where he resided during the years of his illness.

Elwin was born February 18, 1952 in Albemarle, North Carolina.  He was the eldest son of Dewey Rayvarn Ponds and Nettie Deborah Ponds.  He received his formal education in the Newport News Public School System and also attend Thomas Nelson Community College where he received an Associates Degree in Computer Technology.

Elwin loved computers, National Geographic, music, and reading.  He had a special love for all animals especially dogs.

Elwin was proceeded in death by his father Dewey Rayvarn Ponds. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Andre Savage, Jr, his mother Nettie D. Ponds, his devoted sister's Duarne Patrice Ponds, Kimberly (William)  McGlone, brothers Joseph Derious Ponds, Jeffrey Nathaniel Ponds, Gary Quentin Ponds, Mark Antione (Tonjala)  Ponds, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Elwin's kind, considerate, friendly and loving personality reflected in his daily living in dealing with family and friends.  We will always carry your memory in our hearts.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service starting at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
