Eloise C. Herbert, was born December 9, 1932 to Hessie and Goldie Herbert in Newport News, Va.  She passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

She attended the Newport News Public School System, graduating from Huntington High School in Newport News, Va.  She went on to work as an LPN at then, "Dixie Hospital" .  As her nursing career flourished, she went on to pursue an Associate Degree to become a RN at present Day Hampton General Hospital.

Her career spanded 32 years, of which she always spoke highly of being a RN (Registered Nurse) .  She earned the degree from Thomas Nelson Community College.  She was a member of Third Baptist Church in Hampton, Va., and Church of Christ of Newport News, Va.  Her favorite song was "Happy" by Pharrell Williams.  This song meant so much to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hessie and Goldie Herbert; and her brother, James Darnell Herbert.

She is the wife of Johnnie Lee Hogue, Sr.  She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Johnnie Lee Hogue, Jr., Stephen Lawrence Hogue, David Richard Hogue, Bernice Elaine Hogue Richardson, and Karen Denise Hogue Fary; nine grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren; cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601-27th Street, Newport News, Va.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the funeral home chapel.  The Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
